(q) what would you like to say to your former listeners/callers?
thanks for the good times, the requests (i got turned on to some good music from requests!), the mix tapes, the entertaining comments, the positive feedback, and for letting me into your ears!
(q) what was the best thing you remember about being a part of ktuh?
hmmm... i'm torn. there are so many things! one was meeting awesome, talented people, most of whom i'm still friends with. another was having the rare opportunity to have a "voice" on the air (especially in these media conglomerate days) and to fill the airwaves with music that i considered worthy of such an eclectic and freedom-giving station. i also really appreciate the fun i had by learning audio production, engineering/mixing, and being the all-mighty music director.
(q) what have you been doing since leaving ktuh?
where do i start? well, i backbacked through europe by myself for a couple of months, then returned to honolulu, where i continued to work at jelly's (turned cheapos) and played drums in several bands. then i moved to los angeles, where i now reside. i worked for byo records, an indie punk rock label for about a year. during that time i put out a zine that was distributed in l.a. and hawaii. presently, i work as an executive assistant to the ceo of an upscale asian-style teabar (only in l.a., right?), as well as work at giant robot (www.giantrobot.com). i also do freelance music writing, mostly for a local club-listing called jointz magazine (www.jointzmag.com). and in between all of that plus going out to see concerts/gigs, i'm working on writing and recording my own music.
(q) list three top people who have influenced you:
1. sheila e., 2. the california highway patrol officer who gave me a speeding infraction, 3. my family (they count as one unit).
