i'm picky, so i don't have 10 from 2003. here are some of my favorites from recent years:

(q) why should people listen to your show?
i play music that expands the definition of blues, and that speaks to deep emotions in all of us - reflective, happy, and mournful. i feature music that captures the essence of what it means to live and die in america - the blues and blues-inspired music celebrate the courage of african americans, the utter joy that can be found in sex, in being creative, in living fully in the moment. talk-story with tita is a weekly commentary segment that offers intelligent, thoughtful and often provocative thoughts about current affairs, movies, and happenings in hawai`i and around the world. i've gotten a lot of positive response from listeners about tita and her cheeky opinions.

(q) what animal most characterizes you and why?
dragon - it loves literature and the other arts. it seeks to understand the world.

(q) what do you think people should do while listening to your show?
anything they are inspired to do. anything.

(q) list three top people who have influenced you:
my spiritual teacher, my mother, toni morrison

(q) what do you think of your callers?
i like getting calls. callers are generally very supportive and appreciative of the music and the effort that i make. most callers really don't ask for a lot, just that i make an effort to give them alternative sounding music and analysis in the talk-story with tita segment. unfortunately, occasionally, i get callers who talk at me rather than wanting to have a dialogue (back and forth; i listen to you, you listen to me). i also get callers who are already so used to pre-programmed, commercial radio stations that they don't realize that the music they hear are personal selections by the dj's. in that sense, ktuh dj's "create" the shows, and each show can be different from the last.
